Feminizing genital gender-affirming surgery COS
I met Christopher during a prioritization and consensus workshop. At that time, he was developing a core outcome set for himself. We kept in touch to share knowledge, and when we couldn't find a moderator experienced in core outcome set development, we decided to ask Chris to help as we know him as articulate, someone who makes well-weighed decisions, and reflects on topics with an open mind.
We are delighted he agreed to lead the consensus meeting for a COS on feminizing genital surgery. We spent two to three sessions preparing, during which he provided valuable tips, drawing from his experience conducting two consensus meetings as a researcher. We were planning to discuss more than we could cover in three hours. Chris advised us to condense the topics, and he was right!
Given our COS subject's intimate and sensitive nature, he was inclusive and created a safe space for everyone to share their views confidently. Although the overwhelming participants' responses were great, it made time management tricky, but Chris handled that well. He also has the talent to explain difficult subjects simply, which also really helped the process of reaching a consensus. Sometimes, the meeting went off track when participants shared more and more personal views, but Chris respectfully redirected them in the right direction. We are very happy with how the consensus meeting went and the result.
We recommend Chris as a moderator/facilitator for any meeting on prioritization or consensus-building.

Masculinizing genital gender-affirming surgery COS
I had the pleasure of working with Chris as an independent facilitator for a consensus meeting related to my research project (The GenderCOS project – masculinizing genital gender-affirming surgery Core Outcome Set), and I couldn’t be more satisfied with the experience. Chris was exceptionally well-organized and provided useful examples, while also thoroughly reviewing the drafts of our preparatory documents. He actively engaged in brainstorming, not just as a facilitator but also as an advisor and consultant, sharing valuable insights and lessons learned from previous experiences.
Chris demonstrated a deep commitment to understanding the specific topics and nuances we needed to discuss, which allowed him to guide conversations effectively. He was quick to adapt when unexpected challenges arose, showcasing excellent problem-solving skills. Throughout the process, Chris was respectful, inclusive, and ensured that all participants felt heard and valued. His commitment to debriefing afterward highlighted his eagerness to learn and continuously improve.
Even participants in our meeting provided positive feedback, noting how professional and effective Chris’s facilitation was. I would 100% recommend working with him for any similar projects!

OPTIMISE-AR: Incorporating Patient-Reported Outcomes in Dose-Finding Trials - Analysis
Christopher reached out to us as we developed consensus-driven recommendations to identify core patient-reported outcomes (PROs)-related research objectives to be considered for use in early phase dose finding oncology trials. Our project included a three-hour consensus meeting which Christopher offered to moderate. Having developed core outcome sets during his PhD and with other teams, we were confident in his abilities to moderate discussions and support consensus building which was vital for our project.
Before the consensus meeting, we were very pleased with Christopher’s interest in our research area. It was clear that he read all the documents we provided thoroughly and was motivated to ensure that the meeting ran as smoothly as possible. We met regularly to discuss the consensus meeting and were pleased with his thorough review and contributions to consensus meeting materials. He also supported us as we arranged and held a pre-meeting with patient partners. At every meeting, he had advice and suggestions to improve our slides before the final consensus meeting.
At the meeting itself, Chris was professional and clear. He was a strong moderator - ensuring the discussion was relevant and stayed within its allotted time, preventing delays to the meeting’s conclusion. We were delighted with his moderation of the consensus meeting and are pleased with the fruitful discussions that were had at the event.
We recommend that you consider Chris as a moderator for the consensus meeting activities you are planning to run.
